Job description
Experienced live medical scribes to document patient encounters in real time for our healthcare clients. Fully remote, night shift, and flexible to any time zone the client requires. Excellent spoken and written English, 70+ WPM typing speed and hands-on experience across multiple EHR platforms are essential.
We are currently hiring experienced Remote Medical Scribes to support our healthcare clients with real-time clinical documentation.
As a live medical scribe you will join the provider during patient encounters - in person by tele-link, by video or by phone - and document the visit in the EHR as it happens. You are the physician's documentation partner: they focus on the patient, you make sure the chart is complete, accurate and closed on time.
This is a night shift role. Our clients operate across multiple time zones, so you must be genuinely willing to align your working hours to whichever schedule the client requires, including changes if we move you to a different account.
This is not a typing or transcription job. You need real experience scribing live, real command of medical terminology across specialties, and the confidence to keep pace with a fast-talking clinician without losing accuracy.

What you'll do
- Document patient encounters live and in real time directly into the client's EHR, keeping pace with the provider throughout the visit.
- Capture the full clinical picture accurately - history of present illness, review of systems, physical examination, assessment and plan.
- Record diagnoses, medications, dosages, allergies, lab and imaging orders, referrals and follow-up instructions without error.
- Prepare and complete notes for the provider's review and sign-off within the turnaround time agreed with the client.
- Pull up prior notes, lab results, imaging reports and relevant history so the provider has them at hand during the encounter.
- Complete chart preparation before the clinic session and close out pending documentation after it.
- Flag incomplete, ambiguous or conflicting information to the provider rather than assuming or filling gaps.
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times, including secure handling of PHI on a remote setup.
- Adapt quickly to the documentation templates, macros, note formats and preferences of each assigned provider.
- Work across different EHR platforms as client assignments require, learning new systems quickly.
- Meet accuracy, turnaround time and productivity targets set for the account.
- Attend shift handovers, quality feedback sessions and client calls as scheduled.
- Be available for night shifts and to adjust working hours to the client's time zone.
What we're looking for
- 2-6 years of hands-on experience as a medical scribe, with proven experience in LIVE / real-time scribing (not transcription or back-end editing only).
- Excellent English communication skills - clear spoken English and precise written English are essential, as you will work directly with providers.
- Strong command of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and common abbreviations across multiple specialties.
- Hands-on working experience on multiple EHR platforms - the wider the range, the better (Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Allscripts, Meditech, Practice Fusion, Kareo, AdvancedMD or similar).
- Verified typing speed of at least 70 words per minute with high accuracy - candidates will be tested.
- Willing to work night shifts, and willing to work in ANY time zone as per client requirements.
- Strong active listening skills and the ability to follow fast-paced clinical conversations, including varied accents.
- Excellent attention to detail and the discipline to document exactly what was said, without interpretation.
- Sound understanding of HIPAA and patient data confidentiality in a remote working environment.
- A reliable home working setup: a stable high-speed internet connection, a working laptop or desktop, a good quality headset, power backup and a quiet, private, distraction-free workspace.
- Any Graduate; a background in life sciences, nursing, pharmacy or a paramedical discipline is preferred.
- Ready to join immediately or at short notice.
Nice to have
- Certification such as CMSS, ACMSO, AHDI or an equivalent medical scribe credential.
- Experience with specialty scribing - emergency medicine, cardiology, orthopaedics, oncology, psychiatry, dermatology or urgent care.
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10 and E/M coding principles.
- Exposure to AI-assisted or ambient documentation tools and the ability to review and correct AI-generated notes.
- Prior experience working directly with US-based providers or practices.
- Experience supporting multiple providers or multiple accounts at the same time.
